The Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa is a public university institute working in the field of applied sciences: Economic Sciences, Legal Sciences and Political Sciences for the Class of Social Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Industrial and Information Engineering for the Class of Experimental Sciences. The objectives of Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna are to:

The aim of Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna is to experiment innovative paths in education and research, so as to meet the modernization and innovation expectations of society.
The research project “BAT4MED” is carried out by researchers and professors of environmental management sector of the Istituto di Management.
The Istituto di Management is a research laboratory of the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna; it includes professors and researchers from the fields of economics, management, engineering and political science. The mission of the Istituto is to study and suggest new approaches to innovation management in private firms, public administrations and regions. The focus is especially on innovative processes in public organisations, public administrations, local or regional economic systems. Innovation related to new technologies, globalisation and environmental compatibility of economic growth represents a fundamental research subject. The research group involved in the project participated as applicant and/or partner in many EU co-funded projects in several funding programme as for example: Life Plus, VIIFP, CIP-Ecoinnovation, MED, Med Pact.
